Letters & Popeye

Ethan is starting to learn a lot of his letters and can write his own name all by himself. Here's the proof..I thought it was amusing the other day when Dave and I were eating guacamole and Ethan referred to the Popeye cartoon thinking when we ate it we'd get strong. Avocadoes, spinach...same difference, right? :-) On that same note, Carter enjoyed eating some guacamole...I told Dave it's funny how I try to give Carter anything and everything that we're eating that he might be able to take down. I don't think I even gave Ethan any table food until he was at least 9 months. This weekend, Carter had some guacamole and small bits of buttermilk muffin. Carter is Mr. "I want to be active, but can't". I know I said it in the last post, but he really just wants to be on his feet all the time!! So, we spend most of our day holding him up so he can jump and take a few steps. Most people dont' want their kids to be mobile, but we're ready...he can chase after Ethan!!

Trying to Catch up!

Back by popular demand...I will try to keep up with this on a weekly/every other week basis going forward...

Some things to note...will be better with a 'story-format' going forward..

Carter - now 8 months old!!
*Gets up on hands and knees now, but then flops down - I'm sure he'll be crawling within a month. This kid definitely WANTS to be mobile..he's constantly wanting us to stand him up so he can jump. He won't even sit still in the bath tub.
*He now has 6 teeth! The top 4 have all broken thru the gums in the last month. The top two left came thru first and now the top two right ones are coming down...I'm glad they weren't too far behind, otherwise he'd look lop-sided. :)
*We've tried some table food (amazing, because I remember being so nervous with Ethan - guess it's normal to be less so on the 2nd one) - guacamole, real sweet potato, mashed potatoes, jello, mashed baked beans.
*He's in the stage where he enjoys chomping on his own feet * toes.

Ethan - now 3 1/2
*Started preschool 2 days a week for 2.5 hours each day. He was reluctant to go the first day, but now enjoys it. It probably helps that he goes with his friend Tyler from lauren's house. I'm just glad to get him some additional socialization with kids.
*He's learned to do buttons and requests to do buttons on anything he possible can.
*Now enjoys taking showers the majority of the time - such a grown up!!
*Has mastered ways to prolong his bedtime. We read books, rock and now I have to sit on his bed for "1 minute". Once I get up, he then requests water because he's thirsty. Then, his animals 'really want me to stay', so I say good night to the animals also (and in his high pitch voice, he talks for the animals to say good night back to me).
*Ethan goes in the basement to workout with Dave and I some nights after Carter goes to bed. Now he requests to 'workout' and even does some of the exercises with us. Hopefully, if anything, we're raising him with the awareness that health and exercise are important parts of our lives.
*A cute little story from last night actually...Dave and I always go in and peek on the boys before we go to bed. We went into Ethan's room and he had put on his favorite hooded sweatshirt (hood was on), his construction goggles over his eyes and plugged in his humidifier (with no water in it). I removed his sweatshirt and goggles to let him be more comfortable in bed and he halfway woke up and tole me, "I really like you mommy" and then closed my eyes.

I know this is a real quick update with not a lot but I will try to be more diligent to give better stories...pictures to follow later this week...time to go to bed! :)
